Peaceful Semi-Rural Village Surrounded by Nature

Anmore is a picturesque village municipality in Metro Vancouver, located north of Port Moody and along the shores of Indian Arm. Incorporated in 1987, this small-community charm comes with a strong outdoor focus, large lot homes, and a calm lifestyle.

With a land area of about 27.5 km² and a population of ~2,356 as of the 2021 Census, Anmore maintains a low density (~ 85.6 people/km²). The median household income is notably high, reflecting the affluent character of many homes here.

Parks, Trails & Outdoors

Anmore is rich in natural amenities that make outdoor recreation a major part of life here.

  • Buntzen Lake Recreation Area: Often considered the crown jewel, this BC Hydro–maintained spot offers scenic hiking and biking trails, beaches, picnic areas, and opportunities for kayaking and swimming.

  • Spirit Park (Dr. Hal Weinberg Spirit Park): Trails, open space, and connections to the broader trail network, ideal for easy walks and nature views.

  • Michael Rosen Trail: A more accessible trail, connecting to Port Moody’s Bert Flynn Park, with picnic areas and nature views. Village of Anmore

Anmore emphasizes preserving green space: its trails, parks, and public spaces are maintained carefully, often with volunteer support. There is a “Greenway Strategy” aiming to connect natural areas, trail systems, and public spaces.

School & Education

Anmore is part of School District 43 (Coquitlam). While Anmore itself has limited commercial infrastructure, residents generally utilize schools, amenities, and services in nearby Port Moody / Coquitlam.

Note: Access to post-secondary institutions and larger school facilities will typically involve driving or transit to neighbouring cities.

Transit & Connectivity

Anmore is not highly transit-intensive, given its semi-rural geography, but there are existing transit services and road access points.

  • The village is served by TransLink’s 182 Community Shuttle which runs along Sunnyside Road and East Road.

  • During summer, extra service (bus 179) goes from Coquitlam Central Station to Buntzen Lake.

  • Road access is primarily via Sunnyside Road and East Road. These form the main internal roads.

Because the area is semi-rural, many residents rely on cars for daily errands, commuting, and accessing larger shopping or services.
