Coquitlam is a city in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia, Canada. Coquitlam, mainly a suburban city, is the sixth-largest city in the province and is one of the 21 municipalities comprising Metro Vancouver.
Coquitlam is fast becoming the Lower Mainland’s number one location for lifestyle and business. Our open and accessible government is dedicated to providing services that enable all members of our community – businesses and residents – to prosper and grow within a safe and clean environment.

Recreation
Coquitlam has over 80 municipal Parks and Natural Areas totalling over 2,200 acres. The parks and trails include features ranging from picnic areas and playgrounds, to outdoor pools, spray parks, sportsfields and skateboard parks.
The city’s trail system totals over 90 km and includes a portion of the Trans Canada Trail. There are trail surfaces suited to all types of activity within a relatively short distance of all residents.
There are many Recreation Centres that offer a wide range of fitness, educational and social activities and programs for preschoolers, children, youths, adults and seniors.
Celebrate and experience Coquitlam’s rich history, and vibrant and growing arts and cultural community through various and ongoing facilities, centres, festivals and cultural and historic sites throughout the City.
Education
Coquitlam Town Centre is home to the 4,000-student David Lam Campus of Douglas College, which offers university transfer, career-training and academic-upgrading programs. Therapeutic Recreation, Hotel and Restaurant Management, and Animal Health Technology programs are housed in the original main campus building. The $39 million Health Sciences Centre opened in 2008, with state-of-the-art facilities for Nursing, Psychiatric Nursing and other health-career programs.
Coquitlam is served by School District 43, which includes:
